(MA) Pioneer Institute Planning Special Spotlight Event

January 23, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm EST

“Big Sacrifices, Big Dreams: Ending America’s Bigoted Education Laws”: A Free Film Screening

Pioneer Institute is excited to announce that they will be celebrating National School Choice Week (January 21-28, 2018) with a special spotlight event!

Pioneer Institute is an independent, non-partisan, privately funded research organization that promotes high-quality public schools, affordable healthcare, effective and accountable government, and greater economic opportunity for Massachusetts residents. Pioneer seeks to improve the quality of life in Massachusetts through civic discourse and intellectually rigorous, data-driven public policy solutions.

A free film screening of Pioneer’s new documentary film, “Big Sacrifices, Big Dreams: Ending America’s Bigoted Education Laws,” on the bigoted Know-Nothing movement and the nativist constitutional amendments and laws that prohibit funding to families in 38 states even today. The film traces the ordeals of four families, two from Massachusetts, one from Georgia, and one from Michigan, who share the same struggle to send their children to schools that offer instruction rooted in religious faith. We hope that their heartfelt stories of sacrifice and commitment will move audiences to take action to repeal the bigoted legal barriers preventing access to these schools. Special guest speakers include Former Vatican Ambassador Raymond Flynn.
