Dr. Jon Hale is an associate professor of education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on the history of student activism and the intersection of race and educational policy. His forthcoming book, School Choice: The History and Controversy of America’s Most Successful School Reform Movement, examines the racist history of school choice. His research has been published in journals such as the History of Education Quarterly, Labor History, and the Journal of African American History. His work has also been featured in outlets including The Atlantic, The American Scholar, the Chicago Tribune, CNN, and Education Week.
Against the resolution:
Dr. Corey DeAngelis is the director of school choice at Reason Foundation and an adjunct scholar at Cato Institute. He is also the executive director at Educational Freedom Institute. His research primarily focuses on the effects of school choice programs on non-academic outcomes such as criminal activity, character skills, and mental health. He has authored or co-authored over 40 journal articles, book chapters, and reports on education policy. His work has also been featured at outlets that include The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and New York Post. He has a Ph.D. in Education Policy from the University of Arkansas.
