(DC) Ensuring Second Chances Are Not Second-Rate: A Conversation on High School Credit Recovery

June 6, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm EDT

Credit recovery — strategies or programs that allow students who failed a high school class to earn credit by retaking the class in an alternative setting — is increasingly popular in American high schools. Programs are available in approximately three in four US high schools and serve 6 percent of high school students. Done well, credit recovery can give students a second chance to stay on track for graduation. Done poorly, it threatens school cultures and lowers expectations for our most disadvantaged students and the schools that serve them.

Please join AEI as Nat Malkus presents his key findings on credit recovery, followed by an expert panel discussion.
