University President Interrupts DeVos Speech to Admonish Protestors: 8:40

On Wednesday, May 10, 2017, U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos was jeered by students at Florida’s Bethune-Cookman University as she delivered a commencement address.

It become distracting enough that about two minutes into the DeVos speech, (at the 8:40 point in this video), University President Edison Jackson, Ph.D., asks Secretary DeVos to pause and tells student protestors, “If this behavior continues, your degrees will be mailed to you. Choose, choose which way you want to go.”

While President Jackson’s admonition didn’t silence the Secretary’s critics right away, within a few minutes after she resumed her speech, most of the boos subsided.
