The nationwide fight against Common Core has exposed the failures of those trying to force a federal-government-driven, one-size-fits-all curriculum on states and local school districts. Join us for an event with one of Heartland’s allies on the vanguard of that fight: Cora Weber of United States Parents Involved in Education, who will be talking about how you can join the STOP FED ED movement.
STOP FED ED is a campaign led by parents, taxpayers, and educators committed to ending Common Core and the U.S. Department of Education. Even strong Common Core supporters realize the name is toxic and have accepted the premise that the federal government should not be dictating curriculum.
So why do we have a federal education department? It’s not to serve the needs of children, but the agenda of the professional education bureaucracy and its Big Business partners – an agenda out of step with parents all across the country. This cabal is working together to reverse the centuries-long history of local and parental control over our children’s education. It’s long since time to STOP FED ED by abolishing the U.S. Department of Education and returning control of education to the states, where it belongs.
Cora Weber will talk about her activism in the nonprofit and nonpartisan United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE) – a coalition of leaders across 30 states focused on restoring local control of education by eradicating federal intrusion and opposing Common Core.
