Parents Get $20/Day to Drive Kids to School

About 900 students who are newly enrolled in magnet and other “choice” programs in the Hartford area won’t have bus transportation for the first few weeks of school.

Instead, the state is offering to pay parents $20 a day to drive their children to school until the bus system, which is coordinated by the Capitol Region Education Council, is re-routed to include stops for the new students.
