Florida Teacher May Be Fired After Arrests

 

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. —

A Seminole County elementary school teacher could be fired after she was arrested twice in the last year and didn’t report the incidents to the district, officials said.

Court records show the Wicklow Elementary School teacher was first arrested last June on charges of driving drunk, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license.

Laura Mirande was required to report the arrests to the district. Mirande said she thinks district officials are going too far by firing her.

“I am going to lose my entire career,” said Mirande.
