N.C. Republican leaders rolled out what they called a major education reform bill Monday. It’s not difficult to see how politics is playing a role.
School superintendents statewide marshaled forces recently to lambast lawmakers for imprudent cuts that have slammed schools. Teachers, nonprofits and public policy groups have been giving legislators an earful as well. So the Republican-dominated N.C. legislature is feeling the sting of harsh criticism for its actions.
