Even Though the District is Broke
Teachers in Buffalo, NY, can get all the face lifts, nose jobs and botox they want -- and it's all free -- free for the teachers, that is. Plastic surgeries for teachers cost the cash-strapped Buffalo taxpayers $6 million dollars last year.
Even though the procedures will not positively impact a single Buffalo classroom or student, they will appear in official government budgets as "education" expenses.
Philip Rumore, president of the local teachers union says he'd be willing to give up the lavish benefit, provided the district negotiates a new contract. As for what he might demand from the district in return for relinquishing free plastic surgery for teachers, Mr. Rumore doesn't say.
