Students who ride the bus to school in the Hutto school district or who participate in an extracurricular activity may have to shell out $100 each to do so in the future.
The district shed 69 workers to save money in the current school year, and officials say they must cut another $1.2 million to balance its operating budget for the 2012-13 school year. More jobs will be eliminated, classes will get bigger, and teachers may need to help clean schools under cuts the district is asking community members to consider.
